Support for Greek Festival appreciated

To the Editor,

On behalf of Nick Latousakis, president of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Parish Council, James Banketas, chairman of this year’s 27th-annual Greek Festival, held on July 10, 11, 12, 2014, and the entire All Saints Parish, we would like to thank everyone who joined us for this annual celebration of our spiritual heritage and ethnic Hellenic culture here in Weirton.

We would especially like to thank the many volunteers from in and around Weirton who came to assist us, including children from the Weirton Christian Center and friends of the parish who came from out of town just to help us out those three days.

We thought we had prepared for any contingency, but we were overwhelmed with the amount of guests that came through our doors! We thank our loyal returning guests as well as all the new people that may have come for the first time to enjoy our hospitality. We will be looking for more volunteers to help us meet your needs for coming years.

Besides the sharing of food, pastries and culture, many of you commented that in all the years you have been coming to our annual festival, this was the first time you came in for a tour of our church interior. So many people commented on the beauty and meaning of our worship space. We hope more people will consider taking advantage of this opportunity to visit our facility and experience our church interior for themselves. That should be easier next year (July 9, 10, & 11, 2015) as we will have added handicapped accessibility to our facilities through a new Elevator Annex to be constructed soon.

Thank you once again for supporting our efforts and partaking of our hospitality. We are truly blessed to be a part of the community spirit that exists in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia and the upper Ohio Valley.
