Regulations must remain
To the Editor,
House Speaker Ryan (R) “Federal regulations are out of control.”
“Congress is empowered by the Constitution to write laws that allow government by the consent of the governed,” not by departmental orders such as the EPA.
Theatrical hogwash by Ryan and the Republican Party in the 21st Century. Without the EPA, where would the United States be without regulatory mandates by the EPA? Waiting for legislators to determine what chemicals are dangerous to one’s health with powerful lobbyists fighting for their clients’ products. Like smoking or asbestos did not cause cancer.
There were thousands of hazardous health violations in the 20th Century without scrutiny. Yet after the fight by the EPA and other environmentalists to eradicate many of them, the conservative party, without prejudice, wants to deregulate instead of finding solutions for clean energy. Clean coal. Why not?
We don’t need Ryan and the Republican Party to destroy all the regulation on polluting our water by deregulation to revive the economy while poisoning the air we breathe, water we drink and food we eat.
The 21st Century can not be all about what the top 1 percent want.
The jobs of the future have to be about clean energy.
Whey pretend we are all about leaving our children in debt instead of worrying about whether they will have clean air and clean water to breathe and drink. If not, their health will not be worth a plug nickel.
