Festival of Nations a special event

To the Editor,

Is the weather getting you down? Are the children driving you crazy? Escape from your routine.

Take a one-day trip to a foreign country.

No need for a packed suitcase, passport or travel plans. Just drive or walk by following the flags posted along Weirton’s Main Street to the Millsop Community Center on Saturday. The Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center invites you to come to the 10th-annual Festival of Nations from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. Step into a world of joy and excitement as you see all the many different countries representing Weirton’s diversity.

Experience hearing the foot-stomping, hand-clapping ethnic music and songs. Watch amazing ethnic dances complete with colorful costumes. Smell the aromas of ethnic cooking — perhaps sample the cuisine. Visit a foreign country by strolling and admiring the display tables filled with interesting items. Meet some “foreigners” from the represented countries.

And, the best part of this trip is the free admission. Come and enjoy this yearly event as the many nations representing Weirton will be showing their heritage and pride. Remember the Festival of Nations is family friendly.
