Colliers really supported school

To the Editor,

As the school year has come to an end and Colliers Primary School’s doors have closed for the final time, I would like to thank the Colliers community for its support of our school.

The Colliers community has always believed in and lived by the motto, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Because of the community’s unwavering support of the school, Colliers Primary was the epitome of a “community School.” Whenever the school needed anything, the community was there for us. They made our kids their kids.

Colliers Primary School’s success was due not only because of the staff but also because of the community’s commitment to the school. The parents and church communities worked to ensure that our students had food for the weekend, supplies for school and warm coats and clothing for our school’s clothes closet. The community has helped to make Colliers Primary School one of the best — not just in the county or state but in the nation.

So to all of our community members, parents, business partners and church community, thank you for helping Colliers Primary receive three West Virginia School of Excellence Awards, numerous West Virginia Title 1 Distinguished School Awards, the only “A” grade school in Brooke County and, finally, recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School.

I am thankful for all of your support and I look forward to your continued support next school year as we begin a new chapter for Brooke County schools.
