Make the decision to be obedient to God

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this article. Every day we make countless decisions. Some require little to no thought.

We automatically go to different places at different times with little to no regard to making this decision. Other times we agonize over what decision we should make concerning our family, job or amount of money to spend on whatever our desire is at the time. The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 3 informs us there is a time for every purpose under heaven. He charts a list of things to be considered to spend our time. These are great items we would do well to contemplate in our day and time. However, have you considered your times spent being obedient to God?

I could fill this newspaper with reasons why your obedience to God is so vital, but instead may I share why this is the time for you to make a decision.

God, the supreme being of the universe, our creator, the king of kings and Lord of lords informs us of these words: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. II Peter 3:9.

God made a decision that he didn’t want you to perish. Will your decision be the same as God’s?

In Hebrews 13:5 we’re comforted by the words, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Countless verses show the love God has for us, but none is more obvious the this verse from John 3:16, “for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Considering these verses and myriads of others that relay the obvious desire God has for you to become his child, what will be your decision? He will never force himself on you but desires service out of your love for him.

Read your Bible, especially the book of Acts, which shows what the first century church did concerning its decision to follow Jesus. As this article concludes, keep in mind the old gospel hymn, “I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back.” Make the best decision to follow Jesus. Have a great day.
