Searching for a blessed life

Bishop T.D. Jakes, pastor of the Potters House, in Dallas Texas, says, “God can turn your messing into a blessing, and your mess into a message!”

The New Age Movement that is prevalent in our society these days says that you are god.

You may be the god of your own life in the sense that you are in charge of your life and can make your own decisions; but, you are not thee God who created the universe and all that is in it. If I was God, I wouldn’t have any troubles at all in my life, would you? I know one thing for sure, there is a God, and I’m not Him! But, I do know God and have a wonderful relationship with Him and you can too.

What does a blessed life look like? Does it come with an amazing home, an expensive high end car or SUV, a job that you love to go to everyday? Does it come with the perfect wife, or perfect husband, and children that are the smartest and well behaved? Does a blessed life come problem free? No! Not even in the movies!

We read self help books on five ways to a better life, seven daily practices that successful people do, the three hottest trends in boosting your self esteem; or the latest pill that will cause you to lose weight without exercising.

Help me! We’re drowning in the salacious advertising promises of people trying to profit from our desires to have this dream life, this blessed life that we can only imagine.

The best self-help book isn’t a self-help book at all, but a “Help me God, book!”

The truth is: All the answers to all of life questions are in the manufacturer’s handbook for mankind, called, the Bible. That’s right! You and I come with the Creator’s handbook for how to live a blessed life, a love filled life, a purpose filled life, an overcoming life, a life that finds peace in the storms, Forgiveness of our sins, strength when we’re weak, and Mercy and Grace to help us in our times of need; and the Holy Spirit of God and the Word of God, to show us how to be pleasing to God and to walk in God’s blessings while you and I are on the earth, and how to spend eternity with God in heaven and avoid the fires of hell that were created for the devil and his angels.

People have tried to find peace, a little joy, pleasure, or a temporary escape from reality by using illegal drugs, consuming alcohol, gambling, pornography, or using sex to fill that empty void that leaves them feeling unloved, hopeless, broken, depressed and distraught. The bible says, sin is pleasure for a season, but it still doesn’t fill that sense of rejection, or abandonment and feeling of being alone in the midst of a crowd.

If you’ve tried everything but Jesus, and a relationship with the God who created you, why not do the obvious and try God, you just might get a blessed life!

The Greek word for blessed in the New Testament of the bible is “Makarios,” it means: happy, blessed, to be envied. Properly, when God extends His benefits (the advantages He confers); you are blessed .

It can’t get any better than to have God on your side! When you follow Jesus you get everything that Jesus brings to your life to help you! Whatever you’re up against, fear, failure, financial hardship, doubt, heartache, loss, drug addiction, brokenness, divorce, sin, failure, no job, or you’re left as an orphan; there is no lack in heaven! The bible is filled with accounts of men and women, who God has rescued, revived, turned around, and even rose up to be leaders that people had given up on. Fishermen like Peter and John a Tax- Collector, a Prostitute who was saved, a man who had at least 2000 demons cast out of him. Jesus can turn your mess into a message! Jesus can turn your messing into a blessing!

Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount said, in Matthew 5, using the amplified bible: 3 “Blessed [spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired] are the poor in spirit [those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever]. Jesus wasn’t saying you have to be poor financially. Those who are truly blessed, spiritually prosperous, are those who are humble and look to God for their significance and not to the things of this world.

4 “Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are those who mourn [over their sins and repent], for they will be comforted [when the burden of sin is lifted]. There are few blessings as priceless as knowing that your sins are forgiven and your name is written down in Heaven!

6 “Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness [those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be [completely] satisfied. Jesus death on the cross for our sins, gave us a right standing with God, through His great sacrifice, by shedding His blood and taking our place, paying the price for our sins; if we will accept Him as Lord and Savior of our lives and follow Him we will have a right standing with God.

The word seek in the Greek language means to: inquire, investigate, to search and get to the bottom of the matter.”

Matthew 6:33 Amplified Bible (AMP)33 But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right–the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

If you truly want a “Blessed Life;” Seek first the Kingdom of God through Jesus the Son of God! Inquire, investigate, search, “get to the bottom of the matter!” This isn’t a typo! I’ll say it again!

Don’t just say a brief prayer and add God to your life. Inquire, investigate and search and get to the bottom of this Amazing, Blessed Life in Jesus Christ!

Lord, forgive my sins and come into my life I pray. Give me your Holy Spirit and make me a child of God today. Lead me to a life giving church to help learn more about this blessed life in Jesus Christ. Amen.
