Are you ready?

July 20, 2010 - Jeremy Johns

I can almost smell it. Mud, grass, sweat, blood, fear, aggression, cheers and collisions, it's all in the air. Football season is just over the horizon.

Basketball is my favorite sport. However, I do not get as excited for basketball season to start as I do for football. A basketball season is very long and you get to see a lot of games. Football is a very short season and every single game really counts. If your favorite team has a week off then you are scrambling for something to do.

I am very concerned about WVU's chances this season. Brown was pretty much a joke last season so they could surprise me. I don't think that will be the case though. I will cheer the Mounties on just the same.

The Steelers are going through a lot of garbage and I am sure that doesn't help things. I am excited to see a new style of football from the Steelers. Big Ben will not be under center to start the season so hopefully that means less sacks. Time will tell.

Da Bears! My might Bears of Chicago have made a good deal of changes in the down time. Hiring Mike Martz to resurrect "The Greatest Show on Turf" is a huge plus in my book. Cutler is in his second season with the Bears and I expect him to put last year behind him. The defense has Peppers now and that will help Urlacher and Briggs very much. The offensive line is suspect but hopefully they pull it together.

I am not much of a country music fan but there is nothing like Hank Williams Jr. on a Monday Night.
