| | Out with the old.. ready for the newSeptember 2, 2010 - Angelina DicksonThere comes a time when you have to clean out all the old stuff so that new stuff can take its place. I'm not just talking about boxes of clutter in your closet or old clothes, but old habits and sometimes even old friends. As a society, my generation and those younger are wired to believe that a true friend is someone who sticks by you no matter what and to a point I can relate with that. Sometimes all a person needs is a helping hand, an ear, a hug, a laugh, a shoulder to cry on or just some encouragement. However, if you have a friend who constantly expects more of you than you can give and takes advantage of your hospitality, then a friendship it is not. Lately, I find myself cleaning out my closet so to speak. I have been working on getting rid of old habits to allow new ones, better ones, to take their place and moving on from old friends who are not good for me. Yesterday, I read in Proverbs that a person should avoid bad company and avoid wickedness. This is good advice because if you surround yourself with people who are negative and selfish, it is easier to be that way too. You have to surround yourself with kind, loving people to keep your heart light and be positive and productive. It's hard to say goodbye to people who have been a part of your life for a long time but sometimes it is for the best. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
