Given enough time ...

June 6, 2008 - Summer Wallace-Minger
... and rope, a man can hang himself.

Ever hear that one? Sometimes I feel like I'm being given a whole lot of rope. Want to reel out a few more feet with me?

Take my Senior Managing Editor, Ross. Ross is the master of saying nothing about nothing. I think this is like a superpower. Just call him "Say-Nothing Man." He doesn't trade in gossip whatsoever, which is beyond annoying. His ears are sharp, though. Who knows what Ross knows?

Ross is the sort of person, if you get on his bad side, he will not go after you guns blazing. He is much too crafty for that. Usually, he just gives you a really unpleasant assignment. You are not sure if he's getting you or not, but there's that niggling suspicion that he did.

If he were going to take you out, Ross would flank you, hamstring you and then disarm you before finally cutting your throat. He's careful like that.

You've got to admire someone with the ability to plan like that. If he hadn't gone into journalism, he would have had a splendid career in poltics.
