Fore, Day 2

June 14, 2008 - Mike Mathison
WITHOUT a driver in his bag. That's 135th out of 156 players. Terrible.

To top that off, he only his seven greens in regulation on Friday. That's why he's 7 back and, more than likely, out of the tournament. I know he says he isn't, but what have you seen in the first 36 holes gives you a glimpse he's ready to contend.

All the 'no-names' are gone and will not be seen in the final 36 holes. You will see those guys hang around at The Open Championship and the PGA Championship, but, not at the U.S. Open.

Of the two players who lead the Open after two rounds with 23 of 28 fairways hit in regulation, Trevor Immelman is +6 and Zach Johnson missed the cut at +8. Obviously, not great iron or putting play.

They both his 82 percent of the fairways and 44 percent of the greens in regulation.

Terrible.

No one should be shocked Tiger is near the leaderboard.

He has no rival, other than himself. He pushes himself, no one else.

Sentimental favorite is Davis Love III. Would be brilliant to see him win.

The three par 5s -- 9, 13, 18 -- played under par on Friday, as they should.

The par 4s -- 1, 6, 12, 14, 15 -- are just plain tough and will continue to give players some fits.
