Shake n Bake to herpes

July 7, 2008 - Paul Giannamore

Am I the only one who sees a sad commentary on the changes of society from the 1960s to now  based solely on two TV commercials?

1960s: Little girl standing proudly next to her mom and a tray of fresh fried chicken. Mom says, "It's Shake n Bake." Little girl adds, "And I hept." (The little girl inevitably has a  bad Southern accent in my memory. Sorry.)

2008: Handsome man with pretty girlfriend peeking up from above his right shoulder. Man says, "I have genital herpes." Pretty girl says, "And I still don't."

Thankfully, it means he never "hept."

And, ironically, the mere fact I have access to an Internet  blog that allows me to write this away from the prying eyes of the family newspaper reader says something, too, doesn't it?
