DuFour to apply for state loan

Weirton City Council passed a resolution Monday permitting City Manager Gary DuFour to file an application for a loan with the West Virginia Department of Development. DuFour explained the purpose of the loan would be to fund the installation of traffic signals at Three Springs Drive near the proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter site. He noted the possibility for this loan was made available by state Sen. Ed Bowman, D-Weirton, and Gov. Joe Manchin. “This is only the application for the loan,” DuFour said. “This is meant to get the ball rolling.” Ward 3 Councilman Fred Marsh stated council would move forward and continue with the loan process based on the outcome of the application and the start of development on Three Springs Drive.
