How do you use your abilities?
I love watching the Olympics — the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Yeah, I know that was from the Wide World of Sports back in the day, but it applies each day to the athletes in Beijing. Hours upon hours upon hours of work, sweat and dedication to get there only to see dreams realized or dashed. Did you witness the excitement of the U.S. men’s gymnastics team after winning a bronze medal, even though it was in solid position to win a silver medal earlier in the competition? Did you witness one of the gymnasts actually thanking God, on national television and everything? And, it wasn’t, “Thank God we won.” He thanked God for giving him the opportunity to be in Beijing and use his God-given abilities. Later I watched Jim Lampley ask Dara Torres about her using the abilities she was given by the “universe.” Dude, the universe doesn’t give gifts, God does — hence the term God-given abilities.
