EORD Thirty-five women attended the GFWC/OFWC East Ohio River District's Information Evening dinner held at St. Florian Hall with the Wintersville Woman's Club as hosts.
Stephanie Rouse, EORD president, presided for the session, and Peggy Meola, district director of juniors, gave the invocation.
Marjean Sizemore, Wintersville Woman's Club president, gave the welcome. Also participating in the opening ceremonies were Kathy Frey, Deidre DeVore and Roetta Lewis, secretary pro-tem.
Changes in reporting information and guidelines and suggested projects for 2008-10 were among topics covered by Gina Judy, district department chairman for arts; Sizemore, conservation; Pat Ketzell, education; Rhonda Dudzik, home life; Devore, international affairs and public affairs; Sherry McClellan, membership; Mary Lou Jones, communications/public relations; Janet Petrella, domestic violence; Lewis, GFWC/OFWC; and Shirley Mitchell, memorial shrine.
Members were encouraged to attend the 2009 OFWC convention in April and told the district will have an active role in the 2009 GFWC national convention to be held June 12-17 in Cleveland.

I had so many names rattling around in my head when I wrote about "Una Serata Italiana" that I forgot to mention Gloria Tripodi, who, as usual, was busy selling drawing tickets, and called Art Panepucci "Joe."
Classy couple that they are, I didn't hear from Art or his wife, Louise, my longtime friend.
History of tennis to be library topic
Kim Harless and Sue Roeder will offer a look at the history of tennis and some of the people who have become famous while playing the sport at a free program for children age 7 and older on Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Brooke County Public Library in Wellsburg. Participants also will learn about basic tennis strokes, skills and equipment that tennis players use and have some fun playing modified indoor tennis games.
They should wear tennis shoes, of course, and comfortable clothing. Space is limited and registration is required by calling (304) 737-1551.
Free workshop planned at church
A free workshop in using Microsoft Office Suite programs will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 23 at Follansbee United Presbyterian Church at the corner of Main Street and Banfield Avenue.
The program will offer tips on creating documents, flyers, booklets, newsletters, mailing labels and spreadsheets tailored to your needs.
Beginners of all ages are welcome to attend, with only a basic knowledge of computers and an ability to type required. Those who have laptop computers are encouraged to bring them.

Follansbee Legion auxiliary meets
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 45 held its August meeting at the post home in Follansbee.
The auxiliary celebrated its 81st birthday July 26 with a dinner. Several post officers attended the celebration.
The auxiliary's annual poppy sale will be Aug. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at several Follansbee locations.
A rummage sale in the post home will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 20.
The next meeting will be held Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. in the post home.
Shrine monthly dinner Wednesday
The Steubenville Shrine Club will hold its monthly dinner at Aladdin Land Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A minimum donation of $6 will be accepted.
The menu includes a choice of stuffed green pepper or cabbage roll, mashed potatoes, salad, dessert and beverage.
