October 6, 2008

STEUBENVILLE - The Franciscan University of Steubenville rugby team defeated visiting Clarion, 59-14, on Saturday. Clarion scored an early try, but would not get another one until late in the second half.

Seven of the 15 Baron ruggers scored. David Fatula totaled three tries, with Mike Stirelli and Bobby Morris scoring a pair of tries each. Frank Knoell, Bob Hogan, Paul Lewis, and Mike Braisie each had a try, while Theo smith booted two through the uprights.

"It's good to see the whole team come together to pull off a big win, we are finally starting to get in stride with each other and play like a team - play Franciscan rugby with dignity and passion," said FUS co-captain Ben Webber.

The Barons (1-3) hosts the University of Pittsburgh at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
