Elks Soccer Shoot set for Saturday

The Weirton Elks Lodge No. 1801 is sponsoring the Elks Soccer Shoot from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the J. C. Williams Soccer Complex on Colliers Way and on the grounds of the old Weirton Steel Company's General Office.

Boys and girls age 6 to 14 are invited to participate. The event is free and each child will receive a T-shirt. The winner will advance to the West Virginia Soccer Shoot also to be held in Weirton on Nov. 22.

Coordinators ask that each child provide proof of age when registering.

Football boosters to host dinner theatre

The Weir Football Boosters will be hosting a Mystery Theatre Dinner presented by "Mystery Theatre Unlimited" at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Undo's Restaurant, Weirton.

The troupe will present the show, "Indiana Smith and the Raiders of the Lost Sequel."

Tickets are $25 per person and include dinner, show, a special drawing and a 50/50 drawing.

Tickets can be purchased at the Weir High School Athletic office or by calling Cathy Horstman at (304)?797-8257.

Depression and bipolar group to meet

The Ohio Valley Depression and Bipolar Support Group meets monthly from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays, tonight, at Wheeling Jesuit University in Whalen Hall.

Veterans for McCain to host former POW

Veterans for McCain will sponsor an evening with former Prisoner of War Colonel Thomas Moe at 6 p.m. today at the Wintersville Fire Department on 286 Luray Drive.

Moe, who was a POW?with Presidential Candidate John McCain, will speak on his experience as a POW and other veteran's issues.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Methodists plan trip to New York City

First United Methodist Church in Weirton is taking reservations for a "Red Eye" bus trip to New York City.

This year's trip is scheduled from Nov. 21 to 23. The bus will depart from the parking lot of Kroger's on Three Springs Drive at 11 p.m. and will return during the early morning hours of Nov. 23. There will be only one bus and cost is $109.
