Girl Scouts hosting 'Trunk or Treat' event

Girl Scout Troop 3157 and LaPosta Pontiac will observe "Make A Difference Day" on Saturday.
The troop will host a "Trunk or Treat" event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at LaPosta Pontiac on Three Springs Drive. Troop members are asking area residents to help them reach their goal of five full trunks by dropping off birthday party items and supplies to the dealership.
Troop members are participating in the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council 2008-09 Birthday-In-A-Box Service Project. Each filled box will be donated to CHANGE, Inc. to assist those in need who otherwise may not be able to celebrate their special day.
Items to be donated include: cake mix, frosting, candles, birthday cards, party supplies and a small, age-appropriate gift. Possible gifts for children include coloring books, crayons, storybooks, playing cards, stuffed animals, dolls or action figures. Ideas for adults include puzzle books, magazines, and health and beauty products.
An area also will be set up at LaPosta's for people to stop by and help decorate boxes, for example, theme boxes, such as Spider-Man, Barbie or Care Bears for children, or sports and health and beauty products for adults. Donations of small cardboard boxes, gift bags, wrapping paper, stickers, glue, ribbon and beads also will be accepted.
