May 25, 2009
By ANGELINA DICKSON, Staff writer

Memorial Day services were held today at the Millsop Community Center at 11 a.m. and concluded approximately at noon. Rev. Frank Milanese of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church gave the invocation before the ceremony began where the Weir High School band performed the National Anthem under the direction of Ray Seifert.

Duke Horstemeyer served as the master of ceremonies and introduced each of the speakers and presenters. Mayor Mark Harris welcomed those gathered for the event while Master Sgt. Larry Stroud, a Vietnam Veteran, was the guest speaker. The Weirton Women's Club also performed before memorial wreaths were presented at the Veteran's Memorial in the Community Center square.
