Adena Lions give scholarships

ADENA — Scholarships were presented to two Buckeye Local High School graduates at the Adena Lions Club Ladies Night held at the Adena Fire Hall.
Randy Breakdowns presided, and Lava Kinky gave the invocation.
John Parkinson, educational aid committee, presented the scholarships to Chris Owens, class valedictorian who will be attending Akron University to study mechanical engineering with a minor in business and Brianna Nameth, attending Shawnee State University in Portsmouth to study exercise science.
Phil Wallace, past district governor, installed new officers: Martin McKim, president; Dustin Kinsey, first vice president; Mike Zonkoski, second vice president; Darrin Young, third vice president; Dean Carter, secretary; Tom C. Shields, treasurer; Ron Malin, Lion tamer; Jay Hopkins, tail twister; Ray Konkoleski, assistant tail twister; Bill Walker, Don Moore, Joe Pelegreen and Drew Case, one-year directors; Don Goff, R..J. Konkoleski, Alva Kinney and Dennis Kinsey, two-year directors; Parkinson, sight-saving chairman; and Lloyd Hutchison, membership chairman.
John and Judee Parkinson were recognized for their years in putting the club newsletter together each month. Martha Carter was named newsletter editor.
Perfect attendance pins were presented to 28 of the 33 qualifying Lions in attendance: Parkinson and Bud Sickle, 50 years; bill Walker, 48 years; Joe Truini, 41 years; McKim, 40 years; Malin, 34 years; Karl bowers, 32 years; Moore, 30 years; Dennis Kinsey, 28 years; Jay Hopins, 27 years; Dean Carter, 24 years; Bednarski, 21 years; Hutchison and Goff, 19 years; Tom C. Shields and John Lengyl, 18 years; Alva Kinney, 14 years; Tom G. Shields, 13 years; John Sebring and R.J. Konkoleski, nine years; Case, Joe Pelegreen and Dusin Kinsey, four years; Theo Kanoski, three years; Paul Cameron, two years; Mary Carter, Shirley Bednarski, Laura Konkoleski, Nancy Walker, Jean Shields and Nancy Malin, one year.
Randy Bednarski was presented the W.R. Bryan Award from Phil Jenkins, past district governor; Melvin Jones Fellow awards were presented to McKim and Dean Carter. They join nine Adena Lions who have been given this honor. Bednarski is one of five Adena Lions receiving the Bryan award.
A profit of $495 was realized from the third-annual yard sale held at Packer’s Market. Zonkoski was chairman.
Bednarski received framed photos of his term as president by John and Judee Parkinson to end his year.
