Helen I. Brown

BROWN, Helen I., of Apollo Road, Harlem Springs, passed away at the home of her daughter.

Helen was born May 17, 1914, in Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Ross and Daisy Crumrine Palmer.

Helen was a member of the Harsh Memorial United Methodist Church in Harlem Springs.

On April 6, 1932, she married Lee J. Brown, who preceded her in death in March 1970.

In addition to her husband, Lee, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Willavene Smith; twin great-granddaughters, Jan and Jill Kinney; five brothers, Charles, Ralph, John, Henry and Marion Palmer; three sisters, Nina Standiford, Rosa Wade, and Grace Clark.

She is survived by two daughters, Neva (Steve) Kinney and Wilma (Denzil) Skidmore, both of Harlem Springs; five grandchildren, Janet (Richard) Ricer, Steve (Cathy) Kinney Jr., Carl (Peggy) Smith, Brian (Joan) Skidmore, Bud (Maryanne) Smith; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrolton, with the Rev. Kimberly Arbaugh officiating.

Burial will follow in the Harlem Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday night from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
