Toys 4 Tots donations being accepted

Donation gives chance to win dinner

October 18, 2009 - By ANGELINA DICKSON, Staff writer

Marland Heights Deli is offering local residents a chance to win a free Thanksgiving dinner in exchange for a donation to Toys 4 Tots.

According to Tracy Aperfine, owner of the Marland Heights Deli, the store will be accepting donations of new toys in the store where two bins are located to store the items. She stated she is aware of the tough times facing the community and participating in the Toys 4 Tots program is a way for her and the store to give back to the community in various ways.

"For each toy donated on behalf of Toys 4 Tots, the individual can pick up a registration form at the counter and register for a free Thanksgiving dinner," she said.

Aperfine stated the store will be donating an uncooked turkey and George Kondik of P.S. Marketing will be donating the trimmings for the winner. She said it will include potatoes, rolls, pumpkin pie and cranberry salad, to name a few.

Hours of operation at the Marland Heights Deli are Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m to 9 p.m.; Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Entry forms can be found at the counter and donors can register for more chances to win for additional donations to the Toys 4 Tots program.
