To the Editor,
I'd like to reply to Bob Atkinson's letter of 11/8, detailing reasons why Republicans/conservatives are "poor losers":
"One is that their bread and butter is big business and the wealthy"---B Atkinson
Yes; clearly, there are no House or Senate Democrats, who are beholden to wealthy supporters or Special Interests. Only those rich, Evil, fatcat Republicans do that. Democrats are for the "little guy".
They doubtlessly run their multi-million dollar campaigns on the pocket change donated by their constituents.
Funny thing is, I've encountered people who honestly believe this.
"and the crazy religious right-wing wing nuts."---B Atkinson
My, my; very tolerant. And we're the "haters".
Isn't it wonderful, having a president who's not a Christian, and so cannot fall under our Evil Spells?
"The second reason is more simple and childish. They don't like losing and are totally unprepared to act as adult, beaten opponents."---B Atkinson
The Democrats wrote the book on acting "simple and childish" in 2000, then spent eight years throwing tantrums, and resentfully--often treasonously--opposing Bush's every move, especially national security issues; in wartime, at that.
Take, for example, that model of restraint, Al Gore; he tried everything. Even tried to chuck the overseas military and absentee ballots, then, when that didn't work, he petitioned the Supreme Court.
Did Mr. Atkinson, I wonder, belittle Gore--and his party--as "poor losers"?
"What other reason could explain.their complete unwillingness to cooperate with...attempts to solve problems or help the middle class and poor."---B Atkinson
Perhaps, because Obama's "solutions" are prohibitively--perilously--expensive, and ultimately tread further upon our Constitutional rights and national sovereignty far more than anything Bush, in reality, ever did.
"Obama goes to Copenhagen hoping to bring back jobs to not just Chicago, but also America, and is unsuccessful."---B Atkinson
Chicago--and truly, Illinois--is hemorrhaging red ink; they can't even afford to keep their city offices open for more than few days a week. City employees--including police---are being laid off. How could they ever afford to host the Olympics?
No; this would've been just another pricey---$5 billion; and the Olympics rarely comes in at budget---Obama boondoggle. We--and our grandchildren--would've ended up funding the whole shebang.
This was, simply, another way Obama attempted paying-off his corrupt Chicago buddies. The Obama crony Chicago picked to run the project, Ed Burke, is a known embezzler.
"The Republican conservative response to this attempt to help with jobs.and promote our country is, amazingly, glee and giddiness. Who do you suppose they are rooting for? Certainly not this country..."---B Atkinson
Yes, we're happy he failed; for some practical reasons, see above.
Others were--okay--more petty.
It was somehow gratifying, watching this massive ego zoom off to Copenhagen--while his country's supposedly disintegrating--thinking he's a shoe-in. After all, everyone loves and adores him; he's the World's President.
He'd smile and wave a little bit, and bring home this Big Ticket item.
Well, he failed. Also, his poll numbers are already tanking. It's nice, seeing him brought down a peg or three.
But, Mr. Atkinson should be of good cheer; as consolation, the Nobel Committee handed President Obama the Peace Prize.
For nothing; absolutely nothing.
