Plans for the annual Renaissance Weirton Festival are starting to come together.
The Renaissance Weirton Committee met on Thursday where it was decided that the same general format of the event would remain the same but with small additions throughout the festival.
"I have heard nothing but positive things about the festival," said committee member Cathie Caranda.
Chairman Gus Monezis said there will be several bands already in place for the show and perhaps more. He also said he plans to organize a car show for this year's event, something done in previous years.
"We also want to have more for the kids to do," he said.
Committee member Millicent Zack said she wants to solicit for more crafters and vendors for the festival along with those who already book a table. She said those who have rented a spot in previous years are "wonderful" and attract many people to the event adding it would be a great way for local people to get their stuff out to the public.
The committee plans to add a basketball shoot-out, Jocko the Clown, and will look into providing more activities for children including keeping the police dunk tank.
