Roman Gevenosky

GEVENOSKY, Roman, 91, of Weirton, died Saturday, March 13, 2010.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1919, in Midway, Pa., a son of the late Walter and Dominica Czyz Gevenosky. Roman was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Moskal Gevenosky, brothers, Walter and Constant; sisters, Laura Strunga, Helen Fitz and Wanda Cruny.

Roman retired after 38 years of service from Weirton Steel, where he was an assistant roller on the number 9 tandem, in the strip steel.

He was a member of the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Weirton and the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club.

He is survived by his son, Michael, of Weirton; four sisters, Pauline Wojcik, Stella Cherenko, Jeanie Danna, all of Avella, Pa., Felicia Dagnana of Hickory, Pa.; two grandchildren, Jessica Bertovitch, and her husband Joshua, and Jason Gevenosky, and his wife Holly; great-grandchild, Roman Michael Gevenosky.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 15, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, W.Va. Additional visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church 604 Colliers Way Weirton, W.Va.

Interment will be in St Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery. Very Rev. Father Theodore Shomsky will preside.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church.
