Honoring law enforcement officers

May 24, 2010
Weirton Daily Times
Representatives from several area law enforcement agencies attended a Blue Mass Sunday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church to remember police officers who have died in the line of duty. Officers from the Steubenville, Toronto, Cross Creek and Jefferson County Sheriff’s departments were joined by Deacon Daniel C. Tarrion, a retired police officer from Maple Heights, who served in law enforcement for 40 years. The Blue Mass was first celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., in 193, according to Monsignor George Yontz, pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church. Participating in the special service were, from left, Cross Creek Capt. John DiBacco, Steubenville Police Capt. Charles Sloane, Steubenville Patrolman Jeff Shimon, Toronto Patrolman Anthony Porreca, Toronto Capt. Emmett Mosti, Steubenville Patrolman Eric Hart, Tarrion, Toronto Capt. Randy Henry, Steubenville Capt. Kenny Anderson and Steubenville Capt. Joel Walker. — Dave Gossett
