First Baptist Church will hold rummage sale
WEIRTON - First Baptist Church, located at 307 Homewood Ave., will hold a rummage sale from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Homemade soups, hot dogs, baked goods and drinks will be available.
Preschool to hold open house
WEIRTON - Marland Heights Preschool, located at 3900 Bright Way, will have their preschool open house at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Both those who have registered and those wanting to learn more about the school are invited to attend. The school is still taking enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year at the faith-based preschool that offers a curriculum for 3- and 4-year-olds.
Classes begin Sept. 8.

Curves collecting school supplies
BURGETTSTOWN - Curves of Burgettstown, 1100 Steubenville Pike, Suite 3, is collecting backpacks, lunch boxes and school supplies for Burgettstown Area School District, which will distribute the supplies to children in need.
The drive is open to the public, and anyone may drop off supplies during regular club hours.
"Some children do not have the supplies they need at home to do homework or their families cannot afford to buy them something they need for a project," said Marci Campa, Curves owner.
Those who donate Aug. 23-24 may enroll in Curves for free, but enrollment is not required to donate.
Club hours are 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.
Curves is located at the intersection of state Route 18 and Old Steubenville Pike.
Benefit to help cancer patient
FLORENCE, Pa. - The Beverly Krynak Lung Cancer Benefit will be held from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department, located at 9 Starck Drive.
Chicken dinners will be available for $6 in advance or $7 at the door.
A drawing for a 50-inch plasma television will be held, with tickets available for $10.
Entertainment will include a disc jockey, karaoke, a moon bounce and Guitar Hero tournament.
The event will include a Chinese auction, door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and a cake walk.

Bread Basket holds golf scramble
WEIRTON - The Community Bread Basket will hold a golf scramble tournament with a 9 a.m. Sept. 4 at the Kings Creek Golf Club.
The event costs $65 and includes golf, cart, prizes and beverages on the course. There will be a full breakfast, lunch at the turn and a full dinner. Several prizes and cash awards will be presented.
