Hancock indictments handed down

NEW CUMBERLAND - A Hancock County grand jury Wednesday returned indictments, including four men charged with sex crimes against children.

The accused individuals are scheduled to appear to be arraigned before Circuit Judge Martin Gaughan on Sept. 27.

Also on that day, Gaughan is expected to set trial dates for Kristopher Burchett and Amanda Goodman, two Chester parents accused of neglect causing the death of their 4-month-old son, Brandon Burchett, in February. Both cases were continued earlier this month to allow the defendants to undergo psychiatric evaluations.

On Sept. 2, the child's grandfather, Kenneth Burchett, pleaded guilty to child neglect causing death. He was sentenced to three years of probation and is on house arrest, where he will remain until early November.

Those indicted Wednesday include:

Daniel L. Moore, 54, of 3601 Orchard St., Weirton, first-degree sexual assault, for allegedly "engaging in sexual intrusion" with a 9-year-old child on June 12.

Kenneth J. Haney Jr., 30, of Wintersville, first-degree sexual assault and sexual abuse by a custodian, for allegedly "engaging in sexual intrusion and sexual contact with" a 5-year-old child.

Brent J. Gordon, 34, of 916 Cove Road, Weirton, third-degree sexual assault, for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl in May 2009.

David J. Still Jr., 30, of Chester, third-degree sexual assault, for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl in April.

Cory Allen Kinsel, 22, of New Cumberland, entry of a building other than dwelling, attempt to commit a felony and destruction of property, for allegedly attempting to break into a garage owned by Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home in Weirton on June 7.

Micah J. Frame, 36, no address listed, grand larceny, for allegedly taking $3,501 in cash from the Belmont Lounge on Pennsylvania Avenue in Weirton on Jan. 29.

Deanna McCain, 42, of 287 Washington Road, Brilliant, three counts of forgery and uttering, for allegedly endorsing checks totaling $1,050 in the name of John E. Beatty.

Carrie J. Carlock, 30, of 615 Pine St., Steubenville, forgery, attempted uttering and conspiracy; and Connie A. Bond, no age or address listed, for conspiracy.

Tera Tweedlie, no age or address listed, conspiracy and two counts of forgery; and Cornelius Johnson Sr., 55, of 881 Edna St., Weirton, for conspiracy and two counts of uttering.

Steven Lee Mehaffey, 33, of 412 Grant St., Newell, child abuse resulting in bodily injury and delivery of oxycodone.

Wanda Sue Gregory, 46, of New Cumberland, forgery and uttering and two counts of identity theft, allegedly resulting in a theft of more than $21,000.

Charles R. Bogart Jr., 25, of 36509 Hazel Run Road, New Cumberland, grand larceny, for allegedly stealing a 1979 Ford pickup truck belonging to Lloyd F. Davis.

Shanlee Potts, no age listed, of Lisbon, Keith Dennis, 30, of Chester and Kenneth Scott, 19, of Lisbon, house burglary, aid in concealing stolen property and conspiracy, for allegedly stealing guns and a circular saw from the home of Ralph Mortimer.

Joseph J. Strapazzon, 28, of New Manchester, nine counts of forgery and uttering, for allegedly endorsing checks totaling $1,025 in the name of Arthur L. Watson.

John Triner, no age listed, of East Liverpool, six counts of failure to pay child support.
