WEIRTON - Richard and Karen Pannett of Weirton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday. They were married by the Rev. James Bird of the New Cumberland Methodist Church on Sept. 24, 1960.
He is the son of the late Walter and Edith Pannett of Weirton, and his wife is the daughter of the late Niles and Eleanor Carp of Wheeling.
He is a retired teacher and coach in the Brooke County, Mingo and Wintersville school districts. Both worked for more than 50 years with children.
A renewing of their marriage vows will take place today at the end of the church service at the First Baptist Church, Weirton. The Rev. Don Dague is officiating. A family celebration will be held by their children, Pamela Pannett West and Timothy Pannett, at Mulligan's Restaurant, Kings Creek Golf Club, following the service.
