FOLLANSBEE - Seven Brooke County residents were transported by ambulance to Weirton Medical Center and Trinity Medical Center following a series of collisions on state Route 2 north of the Wabash Bridge Saturday.
According to a report filed by the Brooke County Sheriff's Department, the following people were transported: Leslie Wagstaff, 55, and Donna Hall, 60, both of Follansbee; and five Wellsburg residents: Donna Blake, 72; Robert Lisbon, 64; Betty Lisbon, 65; Amy Shaffer, 35; and Amber Fink, 28.
Their conditions weren't available. Sheriff's deputies said the seven's injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.
According to police reports, Wagstaff was traveling southbound when her vehicle veered across the center, colliding with two vehicles: one driven by Blake and the other driven by Robert Lisbon. Lisbon and his wife, Betty, were extricated from their vehicle by Follansbee firefighters.
Deputies said Shaffer was traveling north when she braked to avoid hitting Wagstaff's vehicle and was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Fink.
The accident remains under investigation.
Firefighters from Wellsburg and Hooverson Heights assisted with traffic control following the accident, which had resulted in the road being closed for about an hour and 15 minutes while the vehicles were removed.
