NEWELL - A worker at Marsh Bellofram was taken to a Pittsburgh trauma center after a work-related injury Friday afternoon, said Tim Steele, an assistant chief with the Newell Volunteer Fire Department.
Steele said the department received a call at 12:29 p.m. that a worker was caught in a machine. The department responded with eight firefighters.
"He was already extricated from the machine when we got there," Steele said. "He had injuries to both arms. We called for a medical helicopter right away."
Air Evac out of Columbiana County Airport responded and landed near The Harv at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort within about 12 minutes, Steele said.
Chester-Newell, New Cumberland and Lifeteam ambulance crews responded he said. The firefighters helped set up the landing zone for the helicopter and ambulance crews transported the injured worker there.
Steele said firefighters returned to the station within an hour.
