Bethany to hold volleyball clinic
BETHANY - The Bethany College volleyball team will host a Skills Clinic July 30 at Hummel Field House on the Bethany campus.
The opening session will be an all-skills clinic focusing on fundamental skill development for girls in grades 1-7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Players in grades 8-12 are welcome for the afternoon and evening sessions. From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., players can choose between setter training and outside hitter training. Right back training will also be covered in the setter clinic.
The final session will run from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and allow players to choose between defense and middle hitter training. Instruction will also be given on developing a strong serve during the defense portion.
On-court instruction will be given by Bethany head coach Courtney Kline, the 2009 PAC Coach of the Year, with other staff consisting of USAV club coaches, collegiate coaches and players from Bethany's 2010 ECAC South Region Championship team.
The cost of each session is $30, but any player choosing to participate in two clinics will receive a discounted rate of $25 per session.

Huskies to hold meeting
CADIZ - The Harrison Central Athletic Department will hold its OHSAA-mandated player/parent meeting at 6 p.m. on July 25 in the high school gym. Individual sport meetings of cheerleading, cross country, golf, volleyball and football will be held after the general meeting.
The meeting is for high school and junior high athletes. At least one parent or guardian needs to be in attendance at this meeting.

Big Red ads deadline is close
STEUBENVILLE - All ads for the Big Red football program must be turned into the high school ticket office by July 28, when you may prepay season tickets.
Merchandise will be sold from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday in the commons area.
Edison boosters club to meet
RICHMOND - The Edison Athletic Boosters Club will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the high school cafeteria. All are welcome to attend.
Wildcats to have golf scramble
EAST SPRINGFIELD - The Edison High School golf team will host a four-person scramble on Aug. 7 at Spring Hills Golf Course. The $55 per person entry fee includes golf, cart, food, beverages and prizes. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams.

Road Runners to hold tryouts
WHEELING - The Road Runner Travel Fastpitch organization will hold tryouts in Wheeling and Norwich, Ohio.
The Aug. 13 tryouts will be held at the I-470 Complex from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for U-10, U-12 and U-14 and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for U-16 and U-18.
The Aug. 14 tryouts will be held at the Perry Softball Complex from noon to 3 p.m. for U-10, U-12 and U-14 and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for U-16 and U-18.
