Brooke grand jury gives 24 indictments

WELLSBURG - Three area men who allegedly used physical force to rob local women were among 24 indicted by a Brooke County grand jury on Monday.

Bobby L. Lancaster Jr., 44, of 40 Woodcrest Manor, Follansbee, was indicted for one count of first-degree robbery and two counts of unlawful assault for allegedly striking a woman in the face and head with his fist and a flashlight while demanding prescription medication from her on June 14, according to the Brooke County Sheriff's Department.

Ira L. Cutlip, 50, of 736 Charles St., Wellsburg, was indicted for attempting to commit robbery for allegedly grabbing a woman, striking her in the head and threatening to kill her in an effort to get her money on Aug. 5, according to Wellsburg Police.

Christopher Popovich, 35, of 3691 Rear Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton, was indicted for first-degree robbery for allegedly ordering a woman to withdraw money from an automated teller machine while brandishing an object that appeared to the victim to be a weapon on April 21.

Popovich was indicted for another count of first-degree robbery for allegedly attempting to grab a woman's purse on April 22 and for counts of possession of crack cocaine and conspiring to transport it into the state on April 23.

The charges were filed by Weirton Police.

Also indicted were:

Vincente Cruz, unknown age and address, and Villatoro A. Hernandez, 51, of Houston, Texas, manufacturing marijuana and conspiring to do so. The two have been accused of growing 222 marijuana trees, some as tall as 12 feet, in Weirton. Police called it the largest marijuana bust in the city's history.

Jason Mottle, 24, and Roger A. Hartung, 42, both of Wheeling, grand larceny and conspiring to commit grand larceny for allegedly taking 4,000 pounds of steel from Mazzella Welding in Bethany on July 24.

Daniel Gallahan Jr., and Marcus Gibbs, both 28 and residing at 850 Gilbert Ave., Follansbee, entering without breaking for allegedly taking steel from a Follansbee Steel facility on Aug. 13.

Joseph Daniel Black, 41, of 3301 Orchard St., Weirton, and Santy Galiano, 49, of 221 Walter Ave., Follansbee, entering a building other than a house with the intent to steal in connection with an unoccupied trailer in Colliers, July 29.

Tawnya N. Matheny, 27, of 4032 Adams St., Weirton, forging a public record for allegedly signing a false name on a citation issued by a Weirton police officer.

Roy J. Black, 33, of Rear 1001 Main St., Wellsburg, delivering a controlled substance.

Timothy J. Boyza, 32, of Pittsburgh, driving under the influence of alcohol.

Daniel Fetty, 20, of 408 Heiland Ave., Yorkville, and Kayla S. Norman, 21, of Bellaire, Ohio, transporting heroin and conspiring with each other to transport it.

Robert Suddoth, 46, of 260 Ritchie Ave., Weirton, driving while his license was revoked for driving under the influence.

Alicia Dobbs, 32, of 633 Main St., Follansbee, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

Joseph S. Shediac, 59, of 134 Genteel Ridge, Wellsburg, acquiring a prescription medication through misrepresentation.

Amanda K. Hinkle, 20, of 208 George St., Follansbee, transporting heroin into the state and two counts of delivering it.

Christopher W. MacGregor, 36, of RD 2, Wellsburg, driving under the influence of alcohol and while his license was revoked for DUI, fleeing in a vehicle with reckless disregard for the safety of others and speeding.

William E. Withers, 51, of 206 Heathermoor Drive, Weirton, defacing property, causing a loss in its value of more than $2,500, for allegedly spraying paint on the exterior of an Ellen Drive, Wellsburg, home.

Cody H. Colley, 19, of RD 1, Colliers, conspiring to transport heroin and possession of it with the intent to deliver it.

Roy Bonecutter, 30, of 464 township Road 200, Bloomingdale, entering without breaking a Marlamont Way, Weirton, home, with the intention of stealing and conspiring with others to commit the crime.
