BOYD, John E., 68, of Amsterdam, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 23, 2012, at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, Ohio.
A son of the late Jim and Hilda Haught Boyd, he was born Feb. 14, 1944, in Steubenville, Ohio.
John was a member of the Hope Church in Amsterdam.
Along with his wife, the former Sandy Hodgens, whom he married Nov. 10, 1986, he is survived by a son, Donald James Fisher; grandson, Donald James Fisher Jr.; brother, Leslie (Sue) Boyd; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Chain officiating. Burial will follow in Bergholz Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW, DAV, and American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
