DELUCA, Edward W., 75, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012, at home with his wife by his side.
Born in Weirton, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Marie (Locascio) DeLuca.
Ed worked for National Steel / Weirton Steel before retiring to Little River, S.C., in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army, post-Korean War. Prior to serving in the military, Ed was drafted by the N.Y. Giants baseball club, assigned to the Muskogee League, playing out of Melbourne, Fla., from 1954-1956. He was a member of the Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in NMB.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, and best friend, Carole A. DeLuca; their children Edward DeLuca, Michael (Tracey) DeLuca, David Evancho, Kristen (Eric) Fullum, Michael (Jennifer) Evancho, and eight grandchildren: Bret and Morgan DeLuca, Ryan and Berkeley DeLuca, Presley and Delaney Fullum, Zachary and Christopher Evancho; a brother, Vincent (Maryann) DeLuca, and sister, Anita (Richard-deceased) Castillo.
Ed was preceded in death by brother, Robert (Chris) DeLuca and his beloved cat, "Solomon," who died three days after Ed's death.
"The tears in our eyes we can wipe away, the ache in our hearts will forever stay."
By the families request there will be a celebration of Ed's life at a later date.
