Bears to hold run

NEW CUMBERLAND - The Oak Glen cross country program will hold the inaugural Gas Valley Run into Summer 5K at 9 a.m. on June 2. The event is sponsored by C. Hackett Chrysler.

The cost is $15 per person if paid by May 19. There will be a kids fun run at 8:45 a.m. with the cost being $7 per participant.

Registration is from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on race day. All proceeds will benefit the Oak Glen cross country program.

Tigers to hold registration

STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Tigers Football Association will hold registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Kroger in Hollywood Plaza for players ages 7-13. First-time registrants are required to bring a copy of your birth certificate. The fee is $65 per person.

The cheering squad will also hold sign-ups for ages 5-13. The cost is $20 and includes the cost of cheering camp. Registration will also be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 5 at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center and on May 12 at the Steubenville High School commons area.

Youth volleyball to begin

STEUBENVILLE - Youth volleyball for ages 8-14 will be held at the YMCA from mid-May through July. The age groups are 8-9, 10-12, 13-14. There will be a be a beginner, intermediate and advanced league. Players will be placed on teams evenly and according to their skill level.

The YMCA leagues are about teaching participants fundamentals of the sport while promoting the value of participation, fair play, good sportsmanship and proper attitude. Registrations are available at the YMCA facility or online at
