Bridge to be closed

Wednesday, Thursday

The Market Street Bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday while crews perform a routine inspection and install a weight and motion sensor that is part of the span's $15 million refurbishment.

The Veterans Memorial Bridge will serve as the detour. The bridge could be re-opened earlier than planned or the work could be delayed by inclement weather, said state highway officials.

The West Virginia Division of Highways also has announced other road work to be performed next week, pending suitable weather.

In Hancock County, crews will be patching state Route 8 in New Cumberland and Pennsylvania Avenue, ditching along North Fork and Hudson Hill roads; and mowing along Ballantyne Road.

In Brooke County crews will be patching U.S. Route 22, pulling shoulders and ditches along Eldersville Road and mowing along state Route 2.
