County Road 74 closed for work
MINGO JUNCTION - Mingo Junction-Goulds Road (county Road 74) will be closed to all traffic from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to allow for soil borings to be collected as part of the work pertaining to the construction of a new bridge, the Jefferson County Engineer's Department reported.
The road will be closed 0.25 mile south of the intersection of county Road 28 and county Road 74, at the site of the temporary bridge.
Missing man
found in Steubenville
STEUBENVILLE - A 51-year-old mentally impaired Colliers man was found at the City Mission after leaving his home Thursday.
The mission contacted the Brooke County Sheriff's Department at 4 a.m. Friday after information about Michael McConnell, 51, of Colliers was circulated through local media, according to police reports.
According to the reports, a family member told the sheriff's department McConnell left his Colliers home about 2 p.m. Thursday and told a juvenile he was going fishing and camping. The family searched a wooded area near the home and then contacted the sheriff's department according to the reports.
Sheriff's deputies said people reported seeing McConnell near the mouth of Cross Creek and the Ohio River, fishing and soliciting a ride to Steubenville before the mission contacted them.
Area 16
meetings set
CADIZ - The Area 16 Workforce Investment Board will hold its quarterly meeting at 10 a.m. Friday at the Puskraich Public Library in Cadiz.
Also, the Area 16 Council of Government will hold its quarterly meeting at 1 p.m. May 24 at the offices of the Harrison County Department of Job and Family Services.
Milk truck overturns
on Veterans Bridge
STEUBENVILLE - An empty milk truck overturned on the turn at the end of the Veterans Memorial Bridge around 5 p.m. Sunday, which resulted in the westbound lanes of U.S. Route 22 being closed for a period.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported the truck driven by Lee E. French, 42, of Coshocton was driving west on the bridge, slid on the turn and jackknifed off the right side of the road.
The driver, who wasn't injured, was charged with failure to control, the patrol reported. Steubenville Fire Department and Weirton Police were called to assist.
