PIZZO, Bernard F. "Whitey," 88, of Steubenville, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at home.

He was born March 19, 1924 in Manhattan, N,Y. He is the son of the late Joseph and Katherine O'Toole Pizzo.

Whitey was a member of Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church, was retired from Weirton Steel as a millwright, was a member of the DAV and served his country in the Army during World War II and was a POW.

In addition to his parents, Whitey is preceded in death by his wife, Violet Ferrelli Pizzo; four brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two daughters, Katherine (Carl) Mossor of Rush Run, OH, and Karen (Wayne) Spindler of Richmond, OH; five grandchildren: Kathy (Alan) Shultz, Karen (Scott) McGraw, Valerie (Bob) Ewing, Diana (Art) Shultz and Michael (companion Tara) Horner; 12 great grandchildren - five boys and seven girls - and two great-great granddaughters.

Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Fr. Bradley Greer as celebrant. Entombment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service at 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
