WEIRTON - Krazy Bout Sportz is hosting a fundraiser event to benefit Piece by Peace Inc. and the Weirton Area Ambulance and Rescue Squad Inc.
On July 28, Krazy Bout Sportz will open its doors at 6 p.m. as the facility hosts a Night at the Races.
Event organizers are encouraging the public to come enjoy an evening out while supporting Piece By Peace, an organization dedicated to providing quality applied behavior analysis services to persons with autism and related conditions, and the Weirton Area Ambulance and Rescue Squad, a non-profit ambulance organization serving the city of Weirton and the surrounding communities.
The evening features horse races, a buffet, beverages and drawings for $20 per person or $35 per couple. Participants will have the opportunity to bet on each of the 10 horse races, which will be broadcast on a large screen, and those with winning horses will receive a payoff.
Eric Zaney, medical operations director for WAARS, said the ambulance service is looking to complete the purchase of several more Broselow Pediatric Resuscitation Equipment Kits. He said there are two vehicles at WAARS that still need to be equipped with the life-saving equipment.
"The system supplies you with all the information and equipment you needed for young patients' emergency resuscitation requirements, all contained in a color coded, easy-to-use kit," Zaney said. "It's designed to work accurately and swiftly which could make the difference."
Horses will be listed in the printed program by the chosen name and those wishing to sponsor a horse or purchase a Night at the Races event ticket, can do so by stopping by Krazy Bout Sportz to complete and return the form with your payment.
