PIERRO, Joseph J., Sr., 94, of Steubenville, Ohio, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at Sienna Woods.
He was born Dec. 7, 1917, in Steubenville, a son of the late Vito and Lucia Pace Pierro.
He was a retired B.O.P. pipefitter at Weirton Steel Co. and a member of Holy Name Cathedral. Joe was a World War II Army veteran having received both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service.
Preceding Joe in death were his wife, Anna M. Moio Pierro on July 6, 1996; brother, Ralph Pierro; sisters, Antoinette Eroshevich, Carmel Antinone, Margaret Cordaro and Christine Calabrese.
Joe is survived by his children, Cindy (Larry) Davin and Diane (Thomas) Graham, both of Wintersville, Joseph J. (Sue) Pierro, Jr. and Mark E. (Sandy) Pierro, both of Mingo Junction; grandchildren, Mark J. (Heather) Pierro, Taresa (Greg) Piofer, Michael (Shelly) Pierro, Tiffany (Bill Elm) Pierro, Pilar Davin and Kayla Graham; great-grandchildren, Michael, Juliana and Tia; and sister, Liz DiPaolo.
Private services were held on Saturday at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home with Rev. Bradley Greer officiating.
Burial followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
