FOLLANSBEE - The 58th Donofrio, Donofe, and Dunope family reunion was held on July 1, 2012 at the Follansbee Park Community House.
This year's theme was "Family Game Night." Chair Melanie Donofe welcomed everyone and led the group in prayers.
A covered-dish dinner was held with 15 families and 40 people attending from West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. After dinner, the group had their choice of board games to play. A group Bingo game was played with bingo callers Dante Talerico and Melanie Donofe. A board game trivia contest was held and a board game word search was handed out to everyone.
The group sang "Happy Birthday" to Jeana Talerico, who was celebrating her ninth birthday, and to Margaret Puzzuole, who was celebrating her 94th birthday.
A guessing jar filled with Candy Land lollipops and peppermint candy was won by Joe Filiano. A bean bag toss tournament was played by guests.
A basket auction was held as a fund raiser. Baskets won included: "Everything Chocolate" Rich Lawton; "Game Food Snacks," Tessa Filiano; "Games and Puzzles," Timmy Meyers; and "Fourth of July," Mary Ann Dunope.
Stuffed animals were brought by Theresa and Helen Brody of Glendale, N.Y. The children (and adults) all received their choice of animals to take home.
Jimmy Meyers, Linda Meyers, Marian Gugala, Leah Filiano, Glenna Whitehead and Louise Donofe won door prizes. Helen Brody made an afghan for a fundraiser, which Linda Meyers won. An afghan made by Helen Brody was the prize of another fund raiser won by Linda Meyers.
Photo albums and group photos from past reunions and family tree books were on display for everyone to view.
The 59th reunion will be held next summer.
