Open house at Richmond museum

The summer series of open houses at the Crew House Museum on Main Street will continue Sunday, with guests welcome to tour the facility from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Richmond Community Historical Society and is held the second and fourth Sunday of the month through August.

There is no admission charge.

Fundraiser to aid

Journey Project

The Weirton Christian Center's the Journey Project will be having a fundraiser car wash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pennsylvania Avenue Auto Zone.

The Journey Project provides children and families in the community with a variety of services, including literacy education as well as health, fitness and nutrition programs. The event will be held by Tabetha Henderson, AmeriCorps VISTA member, along with volunteers and youth from the area.

Sundowners 4-H

host horse show

The Sundowners 4-H Saddle Club is sponsoring an open horse show Sunday at 4-H Camp Aura, Ross Road, New Cumberland.

The show is the second in a series of three for the summer. The last show is scheduled for Aug. 12.

The show begins at 10 a.m. with five 10-years-and-under classes. These classes include walk-trot, thread the needle, egg and spoon, Cloverleaf barrels and leadline. All 10-and-under classes will be awarded a first-place trophy and ribbons to five places.

At noon open performance classes begin, including thread the needle, down and back, sraight barrels, pole bending, Cloverleaf barrels and stakebend. All of these classes are broken into age divisions of 12 and under, 13-17 years of age and 18 and over. All classes with 8 or more entries will have cash payback. There also are three added money classes which include $50 added barrels, $50 added poles and $25 added stakebend. Champion and Reserve will be awarded for all three age categories at the conclusion of the three shows. Contestants must sign up to be considered for champion and reserve awards.
