THORN, Mary Ruth, 76, of Steubenville, Ohio, died July 13, 2012, in Steubenville, Ohio.
She was born June 20, 1936, in Steubenville, Ohio, daughter of the late Edward and Georgia Kinney Vincent.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Glenn Thorn and Curtis Thorn; one granddaughter, Myia Thorn; and one sister, Claudett Burrus.
She was employed as a librarian for the Steubenville School System and was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a great Sunday School teacher.
She was a 50-year member of the Federation of Colored Women's Clubs, a Life-Time member of the NAACP, and too many other organizations to name.
She is survived by her husband, Edward W. Thorn, of Steubenville; daughter, Sharon Thorn of Cleveland; brother, Edward (Marilyn) Vincent of Inglewood, Calf.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great- great-granddaughter.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, with the Rev. Norries A. Hood Sr. officiating.
