Madonna soccer to start conditioning
WEIRTON - The Madonna girls soccer team conditioning will begin at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the high school. It is open to all female students currently registered at Madonna High School. Come prepared with running shoes. Cleats are optional but recommended.
Marcus named to second team
CANTON - Walsh University softball player and Edison High School graduate Kayla Marcus was selected to the American Mideast Conference second team as a right fielder.
Marcus hit for a .346 batting average with a triple, five doubles, 26 RBIs and 43 runs scored.
Force to hold soccer camp
WEIRTON - The Force Soccer Club will host its fifth-annual soccer camp from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Aug. 6-9 at the J.C. Williams Soccer Complex. The camp is for boys and girls ages 5-14. The cost for U-8 campers is $45 and sessions will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cost is $65 for player U14. All campers will receive a free drawstring soccer bag.
The coaching staff includes Peter Parikakis (head women's coach at Bethany College), Johann Marin (head women's coach at Franciscan University of Steubenville), Ben Bird (coach at Century United Soccer Academy), Ryan Muras (UK International Soccer Academy), as well as many local college athletes and Force coaches.

Force Soccer Club holding sign-ups
WEIRTON - This is the final week for registration for the Force Soccer Club's U10 through U14 travel soccer teams. Registration must be completed at www.npysaforce.org. Registration will close Friday night at midnight.
Coaches for the fall season include Chris LeFever (U14 boys), Rick Provenzano (U12 boys), Virginia Mozingo (U11 boys), Elias Hannaoui (U14 girls) and Monica LeFever (U13 girls).

Bears soccer to hold car wash
CALCUTTA - The Oak Glen soccer teams will hold a car wash from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Wendy's.
Highland Springs to host event
WELLSBURG - The John Rasz Memorial Golf Tournament will be held July 28-29 at Highland Springs Golf Course.
It is a two-man better ball amateur event with medal play also in two flights (0-7 handicap and 8-up) and a senior flight (50-and-over).
The cost is $105 per person and includes golf, cart, lunch Saturday and dinner Sunday. The total purse is $4,000.

Umpires needed
STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Umpires Association is looking for area individuals who are interested in officiating in fall baseball leagues. Prospective officials must be 16 or older.
Fall leagues offer great experience for persons who might be interested in taking classes to become Ohio High School Athletic Association registered officials next winter.

WMC to hold physicals
WEIRTON - Weirton Medical Center will offer free physical exams Saturday to students of Weir High School, Weir Middle School, Weirton Madonna High School, St. Joseph's, St. Paul's, Oak Glen High School, Oak Glen Middle School, Brooke High School, Follansbee Middle School and Wellsburg Middle School.
The times are: Brooke schools from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; Weir schools and Madonna, St. Joseph's, St. Paul's from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; and Oak Glen schools from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The physicals will be given in the Atrium Lobby of Weirton Medical Center. Parents may accompany their children and wait in the cafe area. Students must bring the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission Athletic Participation/Parental Consent/Physician's Certificate Form, which must be completed and signed by a parent (Part II and Part III).
The form can be obtained from the student's school. Only one form per student is necessary. Forms will not be available on July 21. Students who do not have the form completed and signed by a parent cannot have a physical.
Advance registration is not required. The physicals are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Free parking is available in the front of the medical center. Use the main entrance and follow signs to the school physicals registration table.
Roe nets ace
CADIZ - Dan Roe picked up a hole-in-one on the 165-yard 13th hole at Cadiz Country Club Wednesday.
The ace, which was hit with a 6-iron, was witnessed by Jim Clark, Ken Herron and Ray Smith.
