DeGARMO, Mary Benzo, 90, of Wellsburg, WV, passed from this life July 21, 2012, at Valley Haven Geriatric Center Beech Bottom, WV, with her beloved son by her side.
She was born at home on March 3, 1922, the seventh child of the late Ignatz and Anna Cherbanich Benzo of Mahans Lane, Follansbee, WV.
She retired from Colliers Steel as a riveter and welder, a member of the Wellsburg First Christian Church, her surroundings were kept full of flowers and her fortitude was matched by none.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John H. DeGarmo whom she married Oct. 24, 1948; one son, Richard "Rick" Degarmo; four brothers, Mike, Alex, John, and Charles Benzo; and one sister, Anna Chuma.
She is survived by one son, Randy DeGarmo of Wellsburg, WV; four sisters; her two loving and attentive sisters Kathy Kemper, Helen Webster both of Wellsburg, WV, Eva Kukura of Follansbee, WV, and Sophia Huggins of Carnegie, PA; grandson, Corey DeGarmo, who recently retired from the Army, and his wife Madeira; great-granddaughter, Bailey; and great -grandson Kegan of the Washington D.C. area; grandsons, Chad and Christopher DeGarmo both active military; great-grandsons, Gavin and Blair DeGarmo of St. Marys, Ga.; her special niece Janice Piscitelli, and was also known as MeMe to many; other loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held July 24, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles St., Wellsburg, WV.
Funeral services will be July 25, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV, with Pastor Gary Watt and Aaron Miller officiating.
