SIMAKIS, John Michael, 65, of Morgantown, WV, formerly of Weirton, WV, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, at home.
He was born Nov. 25, 1946, in Steubenville, OH, the son of the late Mike and Mary Lou Peters Simakis. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerome Simakis.
Mike was a member of the First Christian Church of Weirton, a graduate of criminal justice from Jefferson Community College, and a C.A.S.A. (Court appointed Special Advocate) volunteer.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Fularz Schramm, son, Nathan Simakis, daughters, Rochelle Riel and Paula McGrogan, both of Wintersville, OH, brothers, Don Simakis of Weirton, WV, and Tom Simakis (Kim), of Canton, OH, sisters, Christine Pratt (Tony), of Bridgeport, WV, and Diane Zacker (Chuck) of New Manchester, WV, 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his "blended" family including Richard Schramm (Susan), of Westerville, OH, Amy Bookser (Richard), of Pittsburgh, PA, Jana Hennessey (Bryon), of Morgantown, WV, and Stacy Skidmore (Jason), of Sabraton, WV.
Visitation will be at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV, on Sunday, July 22, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Kevin L. Bowers officiating. Burial will be at East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, WV, on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
