Harold Morris

MORRIS, Harold C. (Hoopie), 65, of Germano, OH, (a Vietnam War Purple Heart Recipient) died Saturday morning, July 21, 2012, in Trinity West after a short illness.

He was born in Steubenville, OH, on April 19, 1947, the son of the late Howard and Grace Eddy Morris. Harold attended the Jewett High School, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on Sept. 14, 1964, serving four years. While on active duty, he also received a Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal W/ Device; Presidential Unit Citation. Harold was discharged on Sept. 14, 1968.

Harold was a retired heavy equipment operator. He retired from Tube City IMS in Mingo Junction, Ohio. He was a member of the Pine Valley Sportsman Club of Adena.

Hoopie is survived by his wife, Alberta DiLoreto Morris of Germano; two sons, Richard (Lee) Morris of Scio, Jody Morris and Dawn Davis of Massillon, Ohio; one sister, Linda Dulkoski (Bo) of Jewett; and his father-in-law, Oreste DiLoreto of Dillonvale, Ohio; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home on East Main Street in Jewett, OH, on Thursday, July 26, from 2 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 3 p.m.

Military honors will be provided by the Scio American Legion.
