Valentino Guatteri

GUATTERI, Valentino "Tut," 89, of Weirton, died Thursday July 26, 2012.

Born on January 22, 1923, in Weirton, WV, Val was a son of the late Angelo and Marie Montermini Guatteri.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Marge" Heissey Guatteri; his son, Gregg Guatteri; and his two brothers, Sylvio and Keller Guatteri.

During World War II, Val served in the South Pacific with the United States Marines. Locally, Tut formerly served as a Constable in Hancock County and on the Board of Trustees of the former Steel Works Credit Union. After 43 years of service Mr. Guatteri retired from the Plant Security of Weirton Steel.

He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Church, VFW 2716 and the Disabled American Veterans.

Tut is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathy Guatteri Quattlebaum; his grandchildren, Jaime Guatteri (her fiance' Steve Svokas and his daughter, Gianna Svokas), Brian Guatteri, and Shawna (Shawn) Amistade and his great-granddaughter, Sofia Amistade.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.

Rev. Fr. Manny Gelido will preside.

Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
