KMATZ, Sara "Sally," 75, of Amsterdam, OH, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in Trinity Medical Center, Steubenville following a lingering illness.
She was born May 19, 1937 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles and Minnie Carl Adams. She is also preceded in death a grandson, Joey M. Kmatz and by her brother, Charles Adams Jr.
Sally was a member of the Jefferson County First Families, an organization representing those who had ancestors living in Jefferson County, Ohio prior to 1793. She was a life long Methodist holding membership with the East Springfield United Methodist Church of the Cross. She was also a charter member of the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxillary.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Kmatz whom she married May 18, 1956; a son, Joseph E. (Connie) Kmatz of Sabina, OH; two daughters, Debbie (Bill) Cain of Ravenna, OH and Betsy R. (Keith) Cain of Amsterdam, OH; four grandchildren, Nathan, Carlene, Sarena and Jamie; and four great-grand children, Parker, Gracie, Taylor and Austin; and a sister, Dorothy (Glenn) Gates of Canton, OH.
Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main, Richmond on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m..
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Tom Snodgrass officiating. Burial will follow in the Bergholz Cemetery.
