PAPOULAS, Liberty "Libby", 95, of Weirton, fell asleep with the Lord Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in the Inn at Wyngate with her daughter by her side.

Born July 4, 1917 in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Fotini Contogeorgis Proakis.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nick Papoulas; brothers Steve and George Proakis; great-grandson, Andrew Monroe; and son-in-law, James Gallias.

Mrs. Papoulas was a homemaker who loved her family dearly. She was a member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, All Saints Ladies Philoptochos Society, Agia Markella Chios Society, All Saints Senior Citizens and was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She took great pride being an accomplished seamstress and loved playing bingo and cards.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter Mary Gallias of Weirton; sister Alice Cianos; brother John (Helen) Proakis of Baltimore, MD; sisters- in- law, Helen Proakis of Baltimore and Delores Proakis of Weirton; granddaughters, Stacey Gallias (Sam) Monroe of Sarasota, FL and Liberty Gallias (Michael) Crossetti of Charleston, SC; great grandchildren, Cpt. Eric (Kristi) Giannaris of Harker Heights, TX, Aaron (Morgan) Giannaris of Bradenton, FL and Brittany and Sierra Crossetti of Charleston, SC and great-great granddaughter Olivia Giannaris. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Faye Christ of Wintersville, OH; Nick Proakis of Weirton, Georgia Struzinski, Nick Proakis, Michael Proakis and Christina Constantinou all of Baltimore and Dr. Nicholas Cianos of Fairport, NY; and her many friends.

Friends will be received Friday 4-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where a Trisagion Service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Saturday from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church with the Reverend Father Frank A. Milanese officiating. Entombment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
